Can you do a full Bengali wedding on a boat? Yes — here's how to plan rituals, décor, catering and guest logistics for a river wedding.
Is a cruise wedding right for you?
River weddings work beautifully for 50–250 guests. They're ideal for receptions, sangeet nights and intimate ceremonies — and every guest gets a view no banquet hall can offer.
Rituals on board
Mala badal, subho drishti and saat paak can all be done on the open sky-deck. A small, controlled havan kund is permitted with a safety officer present. Many couples do the main rituals ashore and host the reception on the river.
Décor that works on water
Choose secured floral arches, fairy-light canopies and weighted centrepieces. Avoid loose petals on open decks in windy months and plan for the golden-hour light.
What does it cost?
Intimate weddings for up to 60 guests start around ₹1.5 lakh; receptions for 150 guests average ₹3–4 lakh including vessel, décor, catering and photography. See our wedding packages for detailed inclusions.
