Everything you need to know before cruising the world's largest mangrove forest — permits, packing list, watchtowers and wildlife odds.
When to go
November to March offers pleasant weather and the best wildlife activity. The core forest is closed from mid-April to mid-June for breeding season.
Permits
All entries to the Sundarban Tiger Reserve need forest permits. Your cruise operator should arrange these; carry original government ID for every guest.
Watchtowers you'll visit
Sajnekhali (with the mangrove interpretation centre), Sudhanyakhali (best tiger-sighting odds), Dobanki (canopy walk) and Pakhiralay village.
What to pack
Neutral-coloured cotton clothes, a warm layer, binoculars, sunscreen, insect repellent and a power bank. Leave drones at home — they're prohibited.
